Tuskegee University Aviation Science
About
Tuskegee University's Aviation Science program carries one of the most storied legacies in American aviation, rooted in the tradition of the Tuskegee Airmen — the pioneering African American military pilots who trained at Moton Field during World War II. Today, the university's B.S. in Aviation Science degree program continues that legacy by preparing a new generation of professional pilots and aviation professionals, with accreditation from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges.
Flight training is conducted in partnership with LIFT Academy, which provides Technically Advanced Aircraft including Diamond DA-40 single-engine and DA-42 twin-engine trainers, all equipped with advanced glass cockpit technology. Students receive structured classroom instruction, simulator training, and hands-on flight experience progressing from Private Pilot through Instrument and Commercial certificates. LIFT Academy's direct pathway program gives Tuskegee graduates preferred access to Republic Airways, one of the nation's largest regional carriers.
The program at Tuskegee also connects students with organizations such as the Organization of Black Aerospace Professionals (OBAP) and Tuskegee Airmen Inc. for mentorship, networking, and career development. The aviation program is situated on the university's historic campus in Tuskegee, Alabama, and can be reached through the College of Engineering at (334) 727-8950 or [email protected].
