About

AVEL Flight School, operating as Chicago Flight School, is a full-service FAA Part 141 and Part 65 approved flight training organization located at DuPage Airport (KDPA) in West Chicago, Illinois. The school is approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs to train qualifying veterans using GI Bill education benefits, and has welcomed international student pilots from around the world to its West Chicago campus.

The school offers an unusually comprehensive range of aviation certifications, spanning pilot training from Private Pilot through Commercial and Airline Transport Pilot, all three flight instructor certificates (CFI, CFII, MEI), single and multi-engine ratings, Instrument Rating, and an FAA Aircraft Dispatcher (Part 65) course. This breadth of certifications under one roof—including the dispatcher course—makes AVEL one of the more versatile training organizations in the greater Chicago area.

All AVEL aircraft are maintained by FAA-certified professional mechanics and carry excellent safety records. Students benefit from the school's location at KDPA, one of the busiest general aviation airports in the United States and a rich training environment with Class Delta airspace, multiple IFR approaches, and proximity to Chicago's Class Bravo airspace. The international student body at AVEL contributes to a diverse, collaborative learning environment that prepares students for global aviation careers.
