About

Lewis University has built one of the most respected collegiate aviation programs in the nation at its campus adjacent to Lewis University Airport (KLOT) in Romeoville, Illinois, consistently ranking among the Top 20 flight schools in the United States and recognized as the best flight school in Illinois. Founded on Lasallian principles of academic excellence, Lewis has woven aviation technology into the fabric of its educational mission for decades.

The university operates one of Illinois' largest training fleets, with 56 aircraft including 17 Cessna 172s, four Cessna 182s, and two Piper Seminoles, all equipped with glass-panel avionics for modern instrument training. The FAA-approved program operates under both Part 141 and Part 61, enabling eligible students to qualify for reduced-hour commercial and ATP certificates. Lewis has also established a partnership with United Airlines' Aviate program, providing qualifying students and CFIs with a direct pathway to United Airlines careers.

Lewis University offers an unusually broad suite of aviation bachelor's degrees: Aviation Flight Technology, Aviation Administration, Aviation Management, Aviation Maintenance Technology, Air Traffic Control Management, and Unmanned Aircraft Systems, making it one of the few universities where students can pursue virtually any aviation career path within a single department. The school's proximity to Chicago's O'Hare Class Bravo airspace, combined with the busy traffic environment of the Chicago executive corridor, ensures that Lewis graduates are fully prepared for professional aviation operations in complex airspace environments.
