Kansas State University Salina
About
Kansas State University Salina's Department of Aviation is one of the most respected collegiate aviation programs in the central United States, offering FAA Part 141 certificated flight training on its Salina campus alongside professional pilot degree programs at both the associate and bachelor levels. Located at the Salina Regional Airport (KSLN), the program provides students with access to towered airport operations and the full range of training from initial private pilot through commercial and multi-engine certifications. The curriculum requires only 190 hours to complete commercial training under Part 141 — compared to 250 hours under Part 61 — and bachelor's degree graduates are eligible for the Restricted Airline Transport Pilot certificate at 1,000 flight hours. K-State Salina's selection as one of only a handful of schools in the Delta Air Lines Propel Career Pathway program demonstrates the program's elite standing. Students train in a progressively diverse fleet from Cessna 172 Skyhawks to complex Beechcraft Bonanzas, Barons, and motorgliders, building the broad skill set demanded by professional aviation employers. K-State Salina aviation graduates are found in the cockpits of regional and major airlines, corporate flight departments, and military services across the country.
