About

ATD Flight Systems has been providing FAA Part 141 flight training for over 20 years, originally based in Kansas City and expanding its footprint to Cedar Rapids, Iowa, where it operates the flight training component of Coe College's Aviation Management and Flight Operations program. As the certified flight training provider for the Coe partnership, ATD operates at Eastern Iowa Airport (KCID) with FAA examining authority—meaning students can complete their practical tests on-site without waiting for an outside Designated Pilot Examiner.

ATD Pilot Training's two-decade track record in Part 141 instruction reflects a deep commitment to standardized, structured curricula and safety-first training culture. Chief Flight Instructor Timothy Busch leads the Cedar Rapids operation, overseeing a program that takes students from zero hours through Private Pilot, Instrument Rating, Commercial Pilot, and Multi-Engine certificates. The school's examining authority accelerates the practical test process, a significant advantage in regions where DPE availability can create scheduling delays of weeks or months.

The partnership with Coe College integrates ATD's operational expertise with a four-year degree pathway, giving students who complete the program both their FAA certificates and a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration with an Aviation Management concentration. This combination of rigorous academic instruction and professional flight training prepares graduates for immediate entry into the aviation industry, whether in airline operations, corporate aviation, or aviation management roles.
