Cole Robert Norton is a highly accomplished Designated Pilot Examiner (DPE) and the President of P&N Flight and Charter, based in Marion, Iowa. Beginning his aviation journey with his first lesson at age 13, Norton became a flight instructor by 18 and has since dedicated his career to the Midwest aviation community. He is an Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) with a Citation type rating and holds an expansive array of certifications, including Commercial Single Engine Land and Sea, Rotorcraft (Helicopter and Gyroplane), Glider, and Lighter-than-Air Balloon. As a multi-rated CFI, CFII, and MEI, he specializes in advanced training for commercial candidates and initial flight instructor applicants.
In addition to his examining duties, Norton serves as an FAA Safety Team (FAASTeam) Representative and the Chief Pilot for P&N’s Part 135 Air Charter operations. His commitment to professional standards is evidenced by his proactive implementation of a formal Part 5 Safety Management System (SMS) across his company’s operations. Known for his versatility, Norton’s expertise extends to tailwheel, high-altitude, and high-performance transitions. Having previously managed the Marion Municipal Airport, he remains a central figure in Iowa aviation, focusing on providing comprehensive, safety-oriented certification services and specialized training programs.
