Michael Raymond Granek

Michael Raymond Granek is a Long Beach, California-based Designated Pilot Examiner who served for 25 years as a deputy sheriff and helicopter pilot with the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department. Retiring from the department in September 2024, Granek's background in public safety includes piloting helicopter search and rescue operations, such as a February 2017 mission to assist hikers on a steep, icy mountain slope in the Angeles National Forest near Islip Saddle. Granek personally holds private, commercial, instrument, and ATP certificates with helicopter ratings, and he conducts private, commercial, instrument, and ATP practical tests in helicopters.
