SOUTHWEST TENNESSEE COMMUNITY COLLEGE

Southwest Tennessee Community College made history in 2022 as the first two-year institution in Tennessee — and the only one in West Tennessee — to launch a collegiate aviation program, earning FAA Part 141 provisional designation in 2025. Located in Memphis, the Aviation Operations Technology program offers an Associate of Applied Science degree with concentrations in professional pilot, flight dispatch, and aviation administration, partnering with local flight schools including Downtown Aviation at Dewitt Spain Airport for flight instruction. Part 141 certification reduces required hours to Airline Transport Pilot certification, providing students a more efficient pathway to an airline career.
