William Lovell

William "Nathan" Lovell is a Winfield, Missouri-based Designated Pilot Examiner (DPE) and National DPE (N-DPE) who conducts practical exams exclusively for helicopter candidates, and does not conduct airplane checkrides. Operating within the greater St. Louis metropolitan region, Lovell was designated as an examiner in mid-2022 and added Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) authorizations to his DPE credentials in late 2023.

Lovell is authorized to administer checkrides for Private, Commercial, Instrument, ATP, Flight Instructor (CFI), and Instrument Flight Instructor (CFII) certificates. His make and model authorizations span the Robinson R-22 and R-44 series (including SFAR 73 qualification), the Hughes 269 and Schweizer 300 series (HU-269-C), MD Helicopters MD-500 series (MD-500-N), Bell 206 (BHT-206), Bell 47 (BHT-47), Guimbal Cabri G2, Eurocopter/Airbus EC130, and the Enstrom F28 series. To expand his capabilities, Lovell pursued specialized cockpit hours and instruction in the Enstrom 480B model in 2023 to qualify for conducting instrument evaluations in those airframes. He conducts checkrides for regional flight schools, including evaluating Private Pilot candidates in the Robinson R44 for Interstate Helicopters. Locally, Lovell also serves as a subdivision trustee for the Homestead Estates residential development in nearby St. Peters, Missouri.
