Shane Lipson is a distinguished FAA Designated Pilot Examiner and aviator based in El Paso, Texas, with over two decades of experience in the flight deck. His aviation journey began in 2000 in New York City, where a discovery flight around the Statue of Liberty sparked a lifelong commitment to the skies. Following the events of 2001, Lipson dedicated himself to service by joining the Civil Air Patrol, eventually rising to become the head of Standardization and Evaluation for the Texas Wing. Today, he holds Commercial ASEL, CFI, and CFII certificates, having logged thousands of flight hours while providing critical evaluation services for the next generation of pilots.
Outside of the cockpit, Lipson brings a unique perspective on risk management and safety, derived from his dual background as a medical doctor and a business professional. He holds an MD from the Paul L. Foster School of Medicine and an MSE from the University of Pennsylvania, alongside a successful career as the founder of Mt. Franklin Insurance Agency. This intersection of medicine, business, and aviation informs his safety-first mindset and his role as a mentor within the El Paso aviation community. With a clean safety record and a reputation for fair, thorough examinations, he specializes in certifying pilots across Private, Commercial, and Instrument ratings.
