Randall Williams is a highly respected FAA Designated Pilot Examiner (DPE) and seasoned aviator based in Edgewater, Maryland. His aviation career was born out of a personal commitment to follow his passion for flight, eventually evolving from a primary instructor to a veteran of both corporate and commercial aviation. Williams holds an Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) certificate with single-engine and multi-engine land ratings, alongside his credentials as a Certified Flight Instructor, Instrument Instructor, and Multi-Engine Instructor (CFI/CFII/MEI).
With a diverse background that includes flying the Boeing 757 and 767 for Part 121 carriers and operating Learjet 45/75 aircraft in the Part 135 environment, Williams brings a professional, high-standard perspective to the checkride experience. He previously served as a check instructor and training officer, specializing in mentoring new hires and upgrade candidates in complex jet operations. After years in the airline industry, he returned to general aviation to focus on community-level pilot development and examining.
Now conducting over 150 practical tests annually, Williams is known for a thorough evaluation style that emphasizes a proactive safety mindset and comprehensive risk management. His expertise spans a wide range of certifications, including Private, Commercial, and Instrument ratings. Beyond the cockpit, Williams is an accomplished sailor who often spends his winters at sea, a lifestyle that parallels the discipline and navigational precision he demands of his applicants in the Maryland and Northeast flight training regions.
