Curt Tucker is a highly experienced FAA Designated Pilot Examiner (DPE) and veteran aviator based in Davidsonville, Maryland. His distinguished career spans over four decades of service in both military and law enforcement aviation. As a retired Chief Warrant Officer 4 (CW4) in the U.S. Army, Tucker served multiple overseas deployments, including tactical operations in Iraq. Following his military service, he joined the Maryland State Police (MSP) Aviation Command, where he served with the Easton-based "Trooper 6" unit, conducting critical medevac, search and rescue, and law enforcement missions throughout the Chesapeake Bay region.
In his capacity as an examiner, Tucker holds an Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) certificate and is a dually-rated Flight Instructor (CFI/CFII) for both airplanes and helicopters. This dual expertise allows him to conduct a wide range of practical tests, including Private, Commercial, Instrument, and Flight Instructor certifications in both categories. His evaluation style is deeply informed by his background in high-pressure public safety and tactical environments, where he developed a "safety-first" mindset that prioritizes sound aeronautical decision-making. Today, he is a cornerstone of the Mid-Atlantic aviation community, known for his commitment to maintaining rigorous standards and mentoring the next generation of professional pilots.
