Rainer Gades

Rainer Gades has served as a Designated Pilot Examiner under the Portland Flight Standards District Office since 2015, primarily operating in the Portland, Oregon metropolitan area including Troutdale and Newberg. Affiliated with Hillsboro Aero Academy, Gades works as an Airman Certification Representative, where he audits student training records, verifies Part 141 course compliance, and processes student certificates. A former flight instructor and guest speaker at the academy, Gades administers private, commercial, instrument, and flight instructor checkrides in helicopters.

Beyond conducting practical tests in Robinson R-22, R-44, R-66, and Guimbal Cabri G2 models, Gades offers administrative services such as military license conversions, foreign pilot license conversions, and Robinson SFAR 73 qualifications. He also owns and operates Aviation Address under his corporate entity, Skids UP LLC, which provides U.S. mailing addresses for international FAA certificate holders. Outside of aviation, Gades is active in local civic advocacy, having submitted testimony to the Oregon House Committee on the Judiciary in support of legislative gun safety initiatives.
