Michael Patrick Zemlock is an FAA Designated Pilot Examiner (DPE) based at Chino Airport (KCNO) in Chino, California. Because his FAA certifications on record are limited to helicopter ratings—holding private pilot and certified flight instructor certificates—he functions exclusively as a rotorcraft examiner and does not conduct airplane checkrides. Zemlock is the founder of Zemlock Helicopter Service at Chino Airport and also serves as the Chief Pilot for English Air Service, LLC, based at Santa Maria Public Airport (KSMX). Since at least July 2012, he has actively conducted FAA practical tests for rotorcraft candidates in Southern California, specializing in instruction using the Schweizer 300 and Bell 47. His commercial aviation experience includes flying Bell 47 piston and turbine helicopters for agricultural crop spraying in the Santa Maria Valley, as well as piloting low-level LiDAR utility mapping flights over the Rocky Mountains to mitigate wildfire risks. Additionally, NTSB records document two historical incidents involving helicopters owned or operated under his service: a 1994 pilot-induced rollover during a hover run-up by a rental pilot in Chino, and a 2001 emergency autorotation and hard landing in Riverside resulting from an engine crankshaft failure.
