Mark Cook

Mark Cook is a highly accomplished FAA Designated Pilot Examiner (DPE) and NAFI Master Flight Instructor based in Bemidji, Minnesota. He began his professional career as a "freight dog" flying for a regional shipping company before transitioning into specialized corporate aviation. Today, Cook serves as a contract pilot for several construction firms, focusing on high-performance single-engine turbines such as the Pilatus PC-12 and Socata TBM. Alongside his wife, he co-operates Barnstormers Flight Training, a school recognized by AOPA for its excellence in one-on-one mentorship.

With over 10,600 total flight hours—including nearly 3,000 hours of dual instruction—Cook holds ATP, CFI, and CFII certificates. His expertise is exceptionally broad, spanning 66 different aircraft types with a particular specialization in tailwheel, ski, and floatplane operations. As a DPE for the Minneapolis FSDO, he evaluates candidates for Private, Commercial, and Instrument ratings, as well as specialized seaplane certifications.

A dedicated advocate for aviation safety, Cook serves as a Lead FAASTeam Representative, frequently hosting seminars on winter operations and pilot performance.
