Adam Lee Chunn

Adam Lee Chunn is an FAA Designated Pilot Examiner (DPE) based in Nevis, Minnesota, who conducts practical tests exclusively for helicopter ratings. A veteran of the United States Army, Chunn has accumulated extensive experience in rotorcraft operations, flight instruction, and aviation management. He currently serves as a Part 135 Rotorwing Helicopter Air Ambulance (HAA) Pilot and Company Instructor for Sanford Health, flying Eurocopter EC145 Single-Pilot Instrument Flight Rules (SPIFR) medical transport missions. He also holds the role of Chief Flight Instructor for Semper Fly Helicopters in Norman, Oklahoma. His previous leadership and educational roles include serving as Chief Instructor for Lake Superior Helicopters, teaching for nearly a decade on the Aviation Faculty at Lake Superior College in Duluth, and managing operations as the Part 135 Director of Operations for Zip Aviation in New York City. Chunn holds ATP and CFI/CFII certificates. Because his FAA credentials and examining authority are strictly limited to helicopters, he does not conduct airplane checkrides. His DPE authorization allows him to administer helicopter practical exams from Private Pilot through Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) in the Robinson R22, R44, Guimbal Cabri G2, Bell 206, Bell 407, and EC145. A recipient of the Minnesota Aviation Career Education (ACE) Camp Elevate Award, Chunn is currently pursuing airplane multi-engine and single-engine land ATP certificates with the goal of eventually expanding his services as an airplane examiner in Minnesota.
