John Doy Jeffers

John "J.D." Jeffers is a veteran aviator and FAA Designated Pilot Examiner (DPE) based in Palmer, Alaska. His journey began in rural Georgia, where he was inspired by the precision of low-flying crop dusters. To fund his early passion for flight, Jeffers served as an FAA air traffic controller before moving into the agency’s Flight Program Operations. Over more than two decades, he has conducted critical flight inspections across Alaska, amassing thousands of flight hours in everything from the humble Piper J-3 Cub to high-performance King Airs used for certifying national navigation systems.

Currently, Jeffers serves as a prominent DPE for the Matanuska-Susitna Valley, specializing in private, commercial, and instrument certifications. His dual background in air traffic control and flight operations management provides him with a unique, safety-centric perspective on pilot training and examination.
