James "Jim" Andrew Moseley is an FAA Designated Pilot Examiner (DPE) and Chief Flight Instructor based in Sauget, Illinois, at St. Louis Downtown Airport (KCPS). A veteran of the United States Army, Moseley transitioned into aviation at the age of 37 following successful careers in middle management at AT&T and as a business owner in the construction industry. He graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Flight Science from Saint Louis University’s Parks College and currently serves as the Director of Operations for Ideal Aviation and an Adjunct Professor at Southwestern Illinois College.
Moseley is a Gold Seal Flight Instructor (CFI, CFII, MEI) with thousands of flight hours and a reputation for excellence, earning the 2018 Flight Instructor of the Year award from the Greater St. Louis Flight Instructors Association. His safety-oriented approach is characterized by rigorous standards and clear cockpit communication, often sharing his experience with safely recovering a fuel-starved aircraft early in his career as a teaching tool. As a DPE, he specializes in conducting practical tests for Private, Commercial, and Instrument certificates, focusing on developing the next generation of safe and proficient aviators.
