Cody Lyle Barton

Cody Lyle Barton is the Chief Pilot for Columbia Helicopters Inc., based at the Aurora State Airport in Aurora, Oregon. He began his career with the company around 2004 as a copilot, flying tandem-rotor helicopters on high-precision utility missions, including salvage logging in Oregon and an emergency winter fuel salvage operation in the Aleutian Islands. Barton later became the company's Chief Flight Instructor, designing the training curriculum for the 2,800-gallon internal firefighting tank system used on CH-47D Chinook helicopters. He continues to fly active wildland firefighting missions and has presented as an industry expert on helicopter longline operations and night vision goggle systems. As a Designated Pilot Examiner, Barton administers private, commercial, instrument, ATP, and flight instructor practical tests in helicopters, including type ratings for BV-107 and BV-234 aircraft.
