Brian Petschauer

Brian Petschauer is an FAA Designated Pilot Examiner (DPE) based in Burbank, California, who conducts helicopter practical tests across the Greater Los Angeles and Southern California regions. He is a rotorcraft-only examiner and does not conduct airplane checkrides. With over 22 years of aviation experience since starting his flight training in 2004, Petschauer has accumulated more than 6,500 flight hours in helicopters. He holds ATP, Commercial, Private, and Instrument certificates on record, alongside CFI and CFII ratings. After earning his Private Helicopter Pilot certificate in 2005, he completed advanced training at Universal Air Academy at El Monte Airport (EMT) and began instructing at Van Nuys Airport (VNY). His professional career includes serving as Vice President and Chief Pilot at Helinet Aviation Services, Chief Pilot for Orbic Air, LLC, and a Senior Instructor for EuroSafety International. He also founded Aviationly LLC, which provides helicopter checkride preparation and emergency maneuvers training. As an active line-pilot for a Los Angeles-area air medical transport company, his operational experience spans electronic news gathering, VIP charter, aerial film production, LiDAR mapping, and organ transport. As an examiner, Petschauer is authorized to conduct practical tests at airports including Burbank, Van Nuys, Long Beach, El Monte, Hawthorne, and Chino in various aircraft, including Guimbal Cabri G2, Robinson R22/R44/R66, Bell B206/B206L/B429, Airbus AS350/AS355/EC130/EC135, Agusta A109, Sikorsky S-76B/C, and MD Helicopters MD-500 series.
