Barbara Ann Mack is a highly distinguished FAA Designated Pilot Examiner (DPE) and 2023 Minnesota Aviation Hall of Fame inductee based at the Anoka County-Blaine Airport (KANE). With a flying career spanning over sixty years, Mack has logged thousands of hours across a vast array of aircraft, holding certifications as an Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) and instructor for single-engine, multi-engine, seaplane, glider, balloon, and helicopter categories. Her expertise is built on a foundation of diverse flight experience, ranging from corporate jet operations for local firms to performing as a comedic "Granny" aerobatic pilot at regional airshows.
Before dedicating herself fully to aviation, Mack served as a professional educator in the Robbinsdale School System, a background that heavily influences her meticulous and mentoring approach to pilot certification. Her career is defined by an exemplary safety record, evidenced by the 2017 Wright Brothers Master Pilot Award for over 50 years of incident-free flying. As a former FAA Safety Team (FAASTeam) Representative of the Year, Mack remains deeply committed to safety education and the WINGS pilot proficiency program, providing fair and comprehensive evaluations for Private, Commercial, and Instrument applicants.
