About George Bolon

Dr. George Bolon is a distinguished FAA Designated Pilot Examiner (DPE) and a cornerstone of the Minnesota aviation community, primarily based in Winona at Max Conrad Field (KONA). His aviation journey began in Portland, Oregon, eventually leading to a commissioned role as a Captain in the U.S. Army, where he served with the North American Air Defense Command. Since moving to Minnesota in 1968, he has seamlessly integrated his passion for flight with a prolific academic career, serving as a Professor Emeritus at Winona State University, where he was instrumental in establishing the college’s aviation program in 1974.

As the Director of Operations and Chief Pilot for Win Air, Bolon holds an Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) certificate and has logged thousands of flight hours over a career spanning more than five decades.
