WASHINGTON INTERNATIONAL FLIGHT ACADEMY WIFA
About
Washington International Flight Academy (WIFA) has been the premiere flight school in the greater Washington DC metro area since 1989, graduating thousands of pilots from hobbyists through airline captains at its Montgomery County Airpark (KGAI) base in Gaithersburg, Maryland. Over three decades of operation at KGAI have made WIFA one of the most experienced and trusted names in DC-area aviation training, with a track record of successful checkrides and career placements that speaks for itself. WIFA's fleet is one of the most diverse at any single-location general aviation school in the region, encompassing Cessna 172s and 172XPs, Piper Warriors, complex Piper PA-28R Arrows, and Piper PA-44 Seminoles for multi-engine instruction. The full-spectrum fleet allows students to complete their entire training journey from initial private pilot through multi-engine commercial pilot without switching schools. Instagram presence under @learntoflydc reflects WIFA's active community engagement and recruitment of the next generation of DC-area aviators. As one of the few Maryland flight schools with international accreditation and a long history of training foreign nationals in the DC SFAR environment, WIFA draws students from around the world to learn to fly in the shadow of the nation's capital.
