Middle Tennessee State University's Department of Aerospace operates one of the nation's premier university flight training programs, holding FAA Part 141 certification and AABI accreditation for its Bachelor of Science in Aerospace - Professional Pilot. Flying from the City of Murfreesboro Airport (KMBT) and a new Shelbyville facility, MTSU's fleet features 30 Diamond DA40 Skyhawks (20 with Garmin G1000 and synthetic vision), Diamond DA20s, Piper Seminole multi-engine trainers, and a Piper Super Cub. A state-of-the-art $73.4 million aerospace facility is under construction in Shelbyville, underscoring MTSU's growing commitment to professional aviation education in Tennessee.
