Timothy John Brennan

Timothy John Brennan, a Chandler, Arizona-based Designated Pilot Examiner, first discovered his passion for flight during a Civil Air Patrol orientation flight in a UH-1 Huey helicopter. He graduated with a B.A. in International Relations in 2009, then served from 2009 to 2017 as a U.S. Army HH-60 Black Hawk pilot and MEDEVAC officer, including a nine-month deployment to Afghanistan. Following his military service, Brennan earned an M.S. in Aeronautics and joined Quantum Helicopters in Chandler in 2018, eventually serving as Chief Flight Instructor and Chief Pilot. His civilian instructional experience spans Robinson R22 and R44 platforms, as well as turbine-powered helicopters. Brennan later transitioned to the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office Aviation Services Division, where he serves as a search-and-rescue and tactical pilot, certified hoist operator, and swiftwater rescue pilot. For a high-risk flood rescue in November 2025, Brennan and his crew received the Wickenburg Medal of Valor and were recognized in Vertical magazine's "Blades of Valor" program. In his role as an FAA examiner, Brennan administers private, commercial, instrument, and ATP helicopter practical tests. He lives in Arizona with his wife and two daughters.
