Timothy John Brennan

Timothy John Brennan is an FAA Designated Pilot Examiner (DPE) based in Chandler, Arizona, who conducts rotorcraft-only checkrides, including Private, Commercial, Instrument, and Competency helicopter examinations. He does not conduct airplane checkrides, although he holds a private airplane single-engine land rating alongside his Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) and Flight Instructor (CFI/CFII) helicopter credentials. Brennan's aviation career includes serving in the U.S. Army from 2009 to 2017 as an officer and MEDEVAC pilot, flying HH-60 Blackhawk helicopters on life-saving deployment missions in Afghanistan. In 2018, he transitioned to civilian flight instruction at Quantum Helicopters, based at Chandler Municipal Airport (KCHD), where he was promoted to Chief Flight Instructor and Chief Pilot. In addition to his training role, Brennan serves as a civilian helicopter pilot for the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office (MCSO) Aviation Unit, where he conducts high-altitude, search-and-rescue, and night hoist operations across a 9,200-square-mile desert and mountainous jurisdiction. His public safety work earned him the Medal of Valor from the Town of Wickenburg in April 2026 for a high-risk swiftwater rescue of three people from a submerged minivan during a November 2025 monsoon. He was also named a recipient of the 2026 Blades of Valor recognition by Vertical Magazine, featured in a three-episode spotlight on the Hangar Z Podcast, and appeared in Robinson Helicopter Company's 'Climb Higher' promotional series piloting the Robinson R22. Brennan holds a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations and a Master of Science in Aeronautics. Originally from northern Idaho, he is married with two daughters and enjoys golf, fishing, fitness, traveling, and flight training.
