Soeren Sauer is a helicopter-only Designated Pilot Examiner (DPE) based at Miami Executive Airport (KTMB) in Florida, where he operates Sauer Aviation, LLC. Because Sauer is a rotorcraft-only examiner, he does not conduct airplane checkrides. Through his platform, TRAVELDPE.com, he travels nationwide to administer practical tests across a variety of helicopter models. His testing services include evaluations in the Robinson R-22 and R-44, Bell 206, Bell 407, Airbus AS350/H125, Bell 205, and VFR-only type ratings and proficiency checks in the Sikorsky S-70 and UH-60.
In his active flying career, Sauer serves as the Chief Pilot for HMC Helicopter Services LLC, a Miami-based commercial helicopter operator and passenger air carrier, where he flies the Bell 206 and Bell 407. He also has experience as an aerial firefighting pilot, having flown precision water drops and support missions during the 2024 Willamette Complex Fires-South in Oregon. Prior to establishing his current base in Miami, Sauer resided and operated as a helicopter DPE in Hillsboro, Oregon.
