Sean Eric Elliott is a distinguished leader in the aviation community, currently serving as the Vice President of Advocacy and Safety for the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. With over 30 years of industry experience, Elliott has dedicated his career to advancing general aviation safety and regulatory policy. He joined EAA in 1996 and previously served as the Executive Director of the National Association of Flight Instructors (NAFI) until 2004, as well as EAA’s Director of Flight Operations, before moving into his current executive leadership role.
As a highly experienced FAA Designated Pilot Examiner (DPE) and Airline Transport Pilot, Elliott has logged more than 11,000 flight hours. His technical expertise is vast, holding type ratings in iconic warbirds such as the B-17, B-25, and B-29. A recognized safety advocate, he received the FAA’s prestigious "Friend of Safety" Award in 2024 for his work chairing the General Aviation Joint Safety Committee and his leadership in the MOSAIC rulemaking effort. His specialization in experimental aircraft and warbird operations, combined with high-level regulatory advocacy, makes him a pivotal figure in modern pilot certification and safety standards.
