Rodney Melvin Tinney is the founder, president, and CEO of Air Center Helicopters, Inc., based in Burleson, Texas. By May 2022, Tinney had logged over 24,000 flight hours and holds personal ratings in helicopters. Within his company, he serves as the check airman for the Airbus H225 and, in early 2026, acted as the primary flight test pilot for the development of Aerometals' H225 Inlet Barrier Filter engine protection program. Under his leadership, the company has grown to support complex missions, including vertical replenishment operations at sea for the U.S. Navy, Personnel Recovery and Casualty Evacuation for the Department of Defense, and astronaut recovery transport for SpaceX and NASA. Tinney is also a registered SAG-AFTRA stunt performer and coordinator who holds an FAA Motion Picture Waiver to execute precision close-proximity aerial sequences for film production. As a Designated Pilot Examiner, Tinney conducts private, commercial, instrument, ATP, and flight instructor practical tests in helicopters.
