Randall "Randy" Sizemore is a distinguished FAA Designated Pilot Examiner (DPE) based in Louisville, Kentucky, serving the Louisville Flight Standards District Office (FSDO) for several decades. As a veteran of the aviation industry, Sizemore holds an Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) certificate and is a highly versatile Certified Flight Instructor (CFI). His expertise is remarkably diverse, spanning airplane single-engine and multi-engine land, helicopters, and gliders, as well as instrument ratings for both fixed-wing and rotary aircraft. He is frequently associated with flight operations at Bowman Field (LOU) and is a prominent figure in the regional pilot community.
With well over 10,000 flight hours documented as early as 2001, Sizemore’s career has been defined by his commitment to specialized flight instruction and law enforcement aviation training. He has spent significant time preparing pilots for the Jefferson County Police Department’s helicopter unit and often leads FAASTeam safety seminars for fellow instructors. This depth of experience allows him to provide a rigorous and educational checkride environment for applicants ranging from private pilots to aspiring commercial aviators.
Sizemore’s emphasis on a safety-first mindset is informed by his extensive experience with complex maneuvers, including a 2001 incident where a practice autorotation resulted in a hard landing during a training flight. This experience has only reinforced his dedication to maintaining the highest FAA certification standards and fostering a culture of proficiency and risk management. Today, he remains a key resource for the Kentucky aviation community, specializing in advanced ratings and multi-category examinations.
