Perry Lee Brown is a highly seasoned FAA Designated Pilot Examiner (DPE) based in Kalispell, Montana, with an extensive background in backcountry and mountain aviation. Before transitioning into his current role as a specialized examiner and instructor, Brown enjoyed a long and distinguished career with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. This professional experience provided him with unique insights into low-level operations and the demanding environments of the Montana wilderness, including the Bob Marshall Wilderness area. Today, he is widely recognized as a premier resource for both land and seaplane testing in the Pacific Northwest.
With over 5,700 flight hours, Brown possesses a diverse array of certifications, including Commercial-Instrument ratings for Single and Multi-Engine Land and Sea, as well as Rotorcraft Helicopter. He is a Gold Seal Flight Instructor (CFI/CFII/MEI) for both airplanes and helicopters. His technical expertise is further evidenced by his current project building a Piper Bushmaster, which he intends to equip with floats and wheel skis. As a DPE, he is known for his commitment to safety and high standards, often specializing in seaplane ratings and mountain flying proficiency, ensuring that the next generation of pilots is prepared for the unique challenges of the Montana Rockies.
