Patrick J. Rooney is a distinguished FAA Designated Pilot Examiner (DPE) and veteran aviator based in Carroll, Ohio, where he serves as the Chief Pilot of Sundowner Aviation. His aviation journey began in 1969 at the United States Air Force Academy, leading to a 22-year military career. During his service, he operated as a B-52G Aircraft Commander and accumulated nearly 4,000 hours as an instructor pilot in high-performance aircraft including the T-37 and T-38. Following his military retirement, he transitioned to the commercial sector, flying Boeing 737, 757, and 767 aircraft for a major international airline from 1997 to 2016.
