Patrick Emory Hill is a highly distinguished FAA Designated Pilot Examiner (DPE) and corporate pilot based in Oceanside, California, with a career in aviation spanning more than five decades. Hill’s journey began at age 15 pumping gas at Gillespie Field, eventually leading to an accumulation of over 27,500 general aviation hours. His diverse flight experience includes approximately 9,500 hours in jets and 4,000 hours in turboprops, supported by numerous type ratings such as the Gulfstream G-IV, G-1159, and Cessna Citation series. For over 40 years, he has served as a DPE, conducting thousands of practical tests and holding specialized authority for Private, Commercial, ATP, and Flight Instructor certificates.
Beyond his roles as a Part 135 Chief Pilot and Part 141 Chief Flight Instructor, Hill is a prominent FAASTeam Representative dedicated to improving general aviation safety. He has provided over 6,250 hours of dual instruction and frequently facilitates forums for flight instructors to discuss risk mitigation and standardization. Known for a fair but rigorous evaluation style, Hill leverages his decades of international corporate flying and school management to ensure pilot applicants possess the safety-first mindset and aeronautical decision-making skills required for modern airspace.
