Neil Lee Jones

Neil Lee Jones has been actively involved in helicopter flight training for over 35 years, serving the aviation community in Chandler, Arizona. In 1986, Jones worked as a Certified Flight Instructor (CFI) at Arizona Wing and Rotor, later serving as the school's Chief Pilot. Jones founded Quantum Helicopters in 1993 with a single Robinson R22 helicopter. Under his direction as President and Owner, the Chandler-based school operated for over 30 years, grew its fleet to 17 Robinson helicopters (including R22, R44, and R66 models), and trained approximately 4,000 pilots. Jones also established a collegiate partnership with Dodge City Community College in 2017. Following the sale of Quantum Helicopters to Terry Blakemore, Jones transitioned into the role of Chief Operating Officer (COO).

As an FAA Designated Pilot Examiner, Jones conducts helicopter practical tests for Private Pilot, Commercial Pilot, Instrument Rating, Flight Instructor (CFI), and ATP candidates. He holds an ATP certificate as well as flight instructor certificates (CFI/CFII) for helicopters. His background also includes being one of only four pilots in history approved by the FAA to fly in helicopter pylon air racing, competing in the 1995 Phoenix 500 in an MD500 variant. Additionally, Jones is an advocate for helicopter safety who has publicly endorsed the HeliTrak Collective Pull Down (CPD) safety device for Robinson R22 and R44 helicopters.
