Natalie Bingham Hoover is a distinguished FAA Designated Pilot Examiner (DPE) and flight instructor based at Olive Branch Airport (KOLV) in Mississippi. Since starting her aviation journey in 2004, she has built an extensive resume that includes service as a regional airline pilot for Pinnacle Airlines, flying the CRJ-200, and as a corporate pilot type-rated in the Beechjet 400A. She holds an Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) certificate and is a Gold Seal flight instructor with CFI, CFII, and MEI ratings. With over 20 years of experience and thousands of hours of dual instruction given, she has established herself as a central figure in the Mid-South aviation community.
Hoover is equally well-known for her contributions to aviation safety education as a regular columnist for AOPA Pilot magazine and a recipient of the National Association of Flight Instructors' Greg Laslo Excellence in Writing Award. Her safety-first mindset is reflected in her specialized work conducting private, commercial, and instrument checkrides, where she emphasizes risk management and proficiency over complacency. By sharing insights from her own career challenges, such as navigating high-pressure corporate environments and varied weather conditions, she mentors a new generation of pilots to move beyond the "good old boy" network toward a culture of rigorous safety and professional excellence.
