Matthew Franklin Binner

Matthew Franklin Binner began flying helicopters in 2004 and relocated his aviation activities to the Las Vegas, Nevada area in 2007. He serves as a Designated Pilot Examiner out of the Las Vegas Flight Standards District Office, administering Private, Commercial, Instrument, and Flight Instructor (CFI) practical tests in helicopters. Binner is the president and owner of the North Las Vegas Airport-based flight school Airwork Las Vegas, Inc., and he owns Binner Enterprises LLC, which registers and leases fleet aircraft. He also conducts examining operations under the name 702 Helicopters and is affiliated with Cass Aviation LLC. His professional background includes flying Grand Canyon helicopter tours, serving as a Lead CFI, and working as a 14 CFR Part 135 check airman. Personally, Binner holds Commercial Helicopter, CFI, and CFII certificates. As an active participant in the Las Vegas FAA Safety Team (FAASTeam), he co-hosts safety seminars at the North Las Vegas Airport terminal covering helicopter training and checkride preparation. He is authorized to conduct practical tests in helicopter models such as the Robinson R-22, Robinson R-44, Airbus AS-350, Bölkow BO-105, MD Helicopters MD-369, Eurocopter EC-130, and Hughes 269. In October 2019, a Robinson R44 registered to Binner Enterprises and operated by Airwork Las Vegas suffered a fatal engine power loss and crashed in Red Rock Canyon.
