Joshua Slowik

Joshua Slowik is a distinguished FAA Designated Pilot Examiner (DPE) and seasoned aviation professional based in Boise, Idaho. Currently serving as the Chief Fixed-Wing Instructor at Silverhawk Aviation Academy, Slowik also balances a career as a First Officer for United Airlines. His journey began in Northern California, but he has since become a cornerstone of the Idaho flight training community, leveraging his background as a former SkyWest Airlines Captain to mentor the next generation of aviators.

Holding an Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) certificate along with CFI, CFII, and MEI ratings, Slowik possesses thousands of flight hours in diverse aircraft. As a DPE, he specializes in practical tests for Private, Commercial, and Instrument certificates. His evaluation philosophy is rooted in a safety-first mindset, emphasizing cockpit resource management and technical mastery. He is recognized for maintaining a fair yet rigorous checkride environment that reflects his deep professional experience in both Part 141 instruction and Part 121 airline operations.

Beyond his examiner duties, Slowik holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management and maintains a clean safety record. His dedication to standardization ensures that every pilot he certifies is prepared for the complexities of the modern National Airspace System.
