Jonathan Earl Shorey

Jonathan Earl Shorey is a highly distinguished FAA Designated Pilot Examiner (DPE) and the CEO of Skyline Aviation, Inc., based at the San Angelo Regional Airport in Texas. With an aviation career spanning over three decades, Shorey’s journey began in the United States Air Force, where he served as an aircraft mechanic and crew chief for the KC135 and AC130 Gunship. This foundational technical background, combined with his diverse experience as a flight attendant for Republic Airways and a corporate pilot for various jet platforms, has shaped his holistic perspective on aviation safety and professional airmanship.

Shorey holds an Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) certificate and is an accomplished instructor with over 7,500 hours of pilot-in-command time and 4,000 hours of dual instruction given. He is type-rated in the Cessna Citation 500 series and has extensive experience operating under both Part 91 and Part 141 regulations. As a leader in the industry, he also serves as an Adjunct Chief Ground Instructor at Angelo State University. Shorey is widely recognized for his safety-first mindset and his advocacy for simulation technology, utilizing advanced simulators to enhance pilot proficiency and decision-making skills during the certification process.
