Jon Leger began his aviation career as a student pilot at SKY Helicopters in Garland, Texas around 2000, following four years of service in the United States Navy. After earning his ratings, he instructed as an instrument Certified Flight Instructor (CFI) at SKY Helicopters and went on to obtain his Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) certificate. Leger's commercial piloting history includes flying helicopters offshore in the Gulf of Mexico and working as an Emergency Medical Services (EMS) helicopter pilot in North Texas. He joined the medical transport organization CareFlite as a pilot in 2007 and was appointed its Director of Flight Operations around 2015, while also serving as FAA Part 135 Chief Pilot and Director of Training for SKY Helicopters as of 2010. Based in Weatherford, Texas, Leger is an FAA Designated Pilot Examiner (DPE) with over 15 years of examining experience. His FAA certifications on record include private, commercial, instrument, ATP, and CFI. Because his entire professional career and FAA authority are in helicopters, he serves exclusively as a rotorcraft examiner and does not conduct airplane checkrides.
