John William Dennis is a distinguished FAA Designated Pilot Examiner (DPE) and veteran aviator based in Mooresville, North Carolina. Operating primarily out of Lake Norman Airpark (14A) with Race City Flight Operations, he serves the Charlotte FSDO region with a wealth of experience derived from a multifaceted career in aviation. Before transitioning into his role as an examiner, John served for decades as an Air Traffic Control (ATC) Supervisor at several high-traffic facilities, including the Atlanta (ATL) TRACON, before retiring from the FAA in 2007.
His credentials include an Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) certificate and comprehensive instructor ratings, including CFI, CFII, and MEI. John is widely recognized for his dual expertise in air traffic management and flight training, which he utilizes as an active FAASTeam Representative to lead safety seminars and ground school courses.
