John Michael Hardin, known professionally as Mike Hardin, is a distinguished FAA Designated Pilot Examiner (DPE) based at the Terrell Municipal Airport (KTRL) in Texas. Raised literally on the airport grounds, Hardin followed in the footsteps of his father, the legendary Mark Hardin, to become a pillar of the North Texas aviation community. He is the owner of Mike’s Flying Service and has spent decades cultivating a reputation for excellence in flight training and pilot certification.
Hardin holds an Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) certificate and is a veteran Gold Seal Flight Instructor (CFI, CFII, MEI) with extensive experience in single and multi-engine aircraft. As both a pilot and an aircraft mechanic (A&P), he brings a comprehensive technical perspective to his examinations. While he conducts a wide range of checkrides, including Private, Instrument, and Commercial, he is particularly recognized for his expertise in multi-engine operations. Throughout his career, Hardin has maintained an impeccable safety record, with students frequently praising his calm, efficient demeanor and professional evaluation style. His deep-rooted connection to aviation history and commitment to modern safety standards make him one of the most respected examiners in the Dallas-Fort Worth region.
