Gregory Michael Madariaga is a distinguished FAA Designated Pilot Examiner (DPE) based in San Diego, California, with a legacy rooted in the historic National Air College at Montgomery Field. Following in the footsteps of his father, aviation pioneer Nug Madariaga, Gregory began his flying career exceptionally early, famously soloing in 38 different aircraft types by the age of 16. By 18, he had established himself as the youngest helicopter pilot and instructor in the United States, beginning a lifelong commitment to flight training and pilot evaluation within the Southern California region.
Throughout a career spanning several decades, Madariaga has accumulated extensive experience in corporate and civilian aviation, having operated long-range business jets such as the Gulfstream IV and Global Express. He has served as a DPE for over 25 years and holds Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) and Gold Seal Flight Instructor certifications.
