Gregory Bettis

Gregory Bettis works as the Chief Pilot at Billings Flying Service in Billings, Montana, overseeing utility, vertical lift, and firefighting helicopter deployments. He also serves as an instructor pilot for Volo Mission, where he specializes in vertical reference longline training, external cargo handling, and high-precision sling-load operations. Bettis administers Private Pilot and Flight Instructor practical tests in helicopters. Earlier in his aviation career, Bettis owned and operated under his own Part 135 commercial helicopter certificate. He also spent a portion of his career based at the Fernando Luis Ribas Dominicci Airport in San Juan, Puerto Rico, where he held instructional and leadership roles with Vertical Solutions Helicopter Company. Bettis is SFAR 73 qualified for Robinson helicopters and served as the operator representative to the National Transportation Safety Board during a 2015 training accident investigation.
