Colby Vine is an FAA Designated Pilot Examiner (DPE) and seasoned aviation leader based in Ocala, Florida. He earned a Master of Science in Aeronautics with honors from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and holds an Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) certificate along with Multi-Engine Flight Instructor (CFI/MEI) ratings. In addition to his extensive aviation background, Vine has a distinguished history as a lifelong equestrian and coach for the United States Equestrian Federation (USEF), which has instilled in him a disciplined approach to training and mentorship that he brings to the flight deck and the examination room.
Vine currently serves as the Director of Aviation for the New York Yankees, where he oversees the hiring, training, and safety standards for the organization's flight division. His commitment to a rigorous safety mindset is highlighted by his role as the author of the organization’s General Operations Manual and Safety Management Manual. As an examiner, Vine is highly regarded throughout Central Florida for conducting practical tests for Private, Instrument, and Commercial certificates. He is known for a 'strict but fair' evaluation style that emphasizes superior airmanship, sound decision-making, and strict adherence to Federal Aviation Regulations.
