Catherine "Bonnie" Plasschaert is a highly accomplished Designated Pilot Examiner (DPE) and veteran aviator based in Mankato, Minnesota. A 1991 graduate of Minnesota State University, Mankato’s aviation program, she has dedicated decades to the industry as both a commercial pilot and a mentor. Her career highlights include serving as a Captain for Delta Air Lines, where she has operated a diverse array of heavy aircraft including the Boeing 757, 767, and 747, as well as the Airbus A330. Her professional journey began in the Civil Air Patrol at age 13, eventually leading to a career defined by high-level 121 airline operations and collegiate aviation leadership.
Beyond her airline career, Plasschaert is deeply rooted in general aviation and safety education. She serves as an FAASTeam Representative and is the President of the Minnesota Youth Aviation Foundation, focusing on mentorship and scholarships for aspiring pilots. With thousands of flight hours and master-level certifications including ATP, CFI, CFII, and MEI, she specializes in conducting practical exams for Private and Commercial ratings. Throughout her tenure, she has maintained an exemplary safety record, emphasizing a meticulous safety-first mindset that she imparts to every candidate during the certification process.
