Bruce Allen Chase is a highly esteemed Designated Pilot Examiner (DPE) and aviation educator based in Longview, Texas. A significant portion of his career has been dedicated to LeTourneau University, where he served as a Professor and Chair of the Department of Flight Science. Born to missionary parents and raised in South Korea and the Philippines, Chase returned to the United States to earn his Bachelor’s degree in Aviation Technology from LeTourneau, followed by a Master of Aeronautical Science from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.
With over 8,000 hours of flight instruction and extensive experience as an Airline Transport Pilot (ATP), Chase is a multi-talented aviator holding CFI, CFII, and MEI ratings, as well as an Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) mechanic certificate. His professional philosophy is rooted in "first principles"—focusing on the mindset, motion, and mechanics of flight to ensure safe and proficient airmanship. He has furthered his commitment to safety by completing NTSB courses in aircraft accident investigation and fatigue management. As a DPE for the North Texas region, he is recognized for his thorough and fair evaluations, helping pilots achieve Private, Commercial, and Multi-Engine certifications while fostering a proactive safety culture within the aviation community.
